Welcome to the Kruse Residences, located in the heart of the old quarter of Østerby, between the historical Brøndums Hotel, Skagen Museum and the old lighthouse, Vippefyret. Top located in a discrete and exclusive neighbourhood.

Originally built in 1898 by a Danish consul, the main house has evolved into everything from private residence, grocery store, to bed & breakfast, several private residences, and now to boutique residences for ambient and picturesque holiday stays.

Artists (painters) have lived and worked in this very house, to catch the light and the vivid colours of Skagen, the fishermen’s local quarters and the unbeatable surrounding nature with the two oceans melting together.

Our family, the Kruse Family, is one of the really old Skagen families, and you will find our ancestors depicted by the old artists at Skagen Museum. Especially noteworthy is the iconic fisherman and chief lifeboatman, Lars Kruse, depicted in 1882 by the Skagen painter, Michael Ancher and paid hommage to by the great poet of Skagen, Holger Drachmann.

We are (only) 3rd generation in our house in Østerby, though. Aase still resides in her ground floor home. Fully refurbished in 2021-22, the property consists of 4 separate entities with a lot of architectural ambience; a mix of Danish simplicity and the remarkable sense of the old 1898 Skagen days.
